Adding or Deleting to the Word of God

ADDING OR DELETING TO THE WORD OF GOD

Moses was warned by God not to add to or delete from His word. Jesus also made the same admonition in the book of Revelation.
This would mean from the original text before it was translated into English and other languages. We do find that some of the interpretations may differ from each other. That is why it is good to have a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance in order to check what the original word indicated in both the Hebrew and Greek. It is also a plus to have a copy of the introduction that the interpreters wrote in the original King James Bible admitting that there could have been errors.

An example of word’s having different meanings would be the word “fear” in the King James Bible. It could also be interpreted “revere”. Another example would be the word hell which could be interpreted “grave”.

Scripture:
Ye shall not add unto the word, which I command you, neither shall, ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. (Deuteronomy 4:2)

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:18-19)

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
We are not to add to or delete from God’s original word.

Our Father appreciates the fact that you are trying. May God’s blessing be upon this
study of His word, Amen.

Protected by Truth

Watering the Garden
PROTECTED BY TRUTH

It is important for us as Christians to understand that God’s words of truth are the armor that protects us against the dark and wicked powers of evil in this world. As the book of John proclaims in 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Truth in God’s word is our protection. That is why it is impartitave that we heed these words of Paul, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2nd Timothy 2:15)

Scripture:
For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. (Psalms 33:4)

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. (Psalms 91:4)

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? (Jeremiah 23:29)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand, Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:10-14)

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (James 1:18)

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
In order to be protected from evil we need to arm ourselves with truth from God’s Word

Our Father appreciates the fact that you are trying. May God’s blessing be upon this
study of His word, Amen.

Word of Truth

Watering the Garden
WORD OF TRUTH

Jesus, James and Paul used the terminology “word and truth” in the same sentence. Jesus said we are sanctified through truth. Sanctified in the Greek can mean dedicate-consecrate-cleanse-purify-hallow-be holy-free from sin or it could be described as a renewing of the soul.

In the book of Timothy we are told to study so we won’t be ashamed, as we will be able to correctly decipher the truth.

James informs us that we are begotten through the word of truth.

Paul tells us that when we trust, by hearing the word of truth, and believe, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Scripture:

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth; Thy word is truth. (John 17:16-17)

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, A workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2nd Timothy 2:15)

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. (James 1:18)

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. (Ephesians 1:13)

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
Truth is found in the Word of God, the Bible. The truth from His word renews our soul.

Seek

Watering the Garden
SEEK

We begin with these words, “Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. Psalm 40:7, Hebrews 10:7, John 1:1

God, Our Father proclaims that he is in the book, the Bible, and that truth can be found if we seek in the book.

Scripture:
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29)

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. (Psalms 9:10)

O God, thou are my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; (Psalms 63:1)

The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. (Psalms 69:32)

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
These scriptures promise us that the key to unlocking truth is to seek. The place to seek is the word of God, the Bible.

Our Father appreciates the fact that you are trying. May God’s blessing be upon this
study of His word, Amen.
